Parent Taught Drivers Ed (PTDE) is a unique option available in the state of Texas and serves as a homeschooling option for drivers ed. By choosing this option, students will complete our certified online drivers ed course, then a parent or guardian will act as the behind the wheel driving instructor. We'll guide you through the entire process to make it as easy as possible for you.
How It Works:
Step 1: Order the required Parent Taught Drivers Ed packet from the Texas DPS (we'll help you do this). This guide will walk you through the entire process.
Step 2: Finish the first level of our online drivers ed program, which takes a total of 6 hours. This will prepare you to get behind the wheel.
Step 3: Obtain your learners license at the Texas DPS.
Step 4: Continue to progress through our online drivers ed coursework while you complete all of the in-car practice requirements with your approved parent or guardian. You'll need to complete a total of 44 driving hours behind the wheel.
Step 5: Take and complete the Impact Texas Teen Drivers Program (we'll show you where to get this done quickly and easily). This is a 2 hour video course provided for free by the Texas DPS.
Step 6: Obtain your provisional drivers license!
