If you've ever looked up online driving schools, then you most certainly would have come across Aceable and DriverEdToGo. These are 2 of the top choices when it comes to online driver’s ed.

Both these schools are well known and respected. Both offer loads of different features that will enhance your learning experience.

But as so often happens when comparing two things, you will want to know: which is better?

Luckily for you, I've compared both options side by side to give you a comprehensive look into what they offer. This will help you determine which online driving school is the best one for YOU.

So let’s get straight to it!

Aceable vs DriverEdToGo: A Side by Side Comparison

For each school, I'll talk about:

  • State approval
  • Pricing
  • User experience
  • Features
  • Add ons
  • Convenience
  • Customer support
  • Reviews

But first an overview...

Aceable Vs DriverEdToGo Which Online Driving School is Better chart1

State Approval

Aceable is approved in more states than DriverEdToGo

Also, DriverEdToGo isn’t approved in big names like Texas and Florida, while Aceable is. (See chart above for the approved states.)

However, DriverEdToGo has an advantage as it offers state-specific courses in all 50 states. Even if most of these are not state-approved, you can still ask your DMV if they will accept the course to satisfy requirements (this does not apply to states that don’t authorize online driver’s ed).

Pricing

DriverEdToGo is the affordability champ here with courses under $40 in most states.

Aceable is a bit pricier, with their driver’s ed course costing upwards of $40 on average.

However, both schools provide regular discounts and promotions so you can net their course for much less. This makes it worth checking both sites for any deals on offer.

User Experience

Aceable provides a stellar user experience.

With a modern interface that's simple to go through, the course is hard to compete with in terms of ease of use and design.

Unlike many other online courses, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any annoying bugs or glitches that mess with the learning experience.

Plus, Aceable even comes with its own mascot, called Ace, who guides you through the course and directs you to the lessons you’ll have to complete next.

DriverEdToGo might not have a modern design or a guide, but what it does offer is a straightforward course. It gets to the point right away, making it faster to go through.

As for bugs and glitches, DriverEdToGo experiences a few of those. Nothing serious, though, it just might be a bit annoying to some.

Features

Source - DriverEdToGo

While both courses have their fair share of games through crossword puzzles, simulations, and more, Aceable is on another level when it comes to the quality of these features.

An example of this would be their simulations which give users a chance to experience parallel parking and reversing in a safe online environment.

Check out this video to get an idea of how Aceable teaches reversing:

This increases confidence before you get to your behind-the-wheel lessons, making the driving process less stressful when you get around to it.

As we mentioned, DriverEdToGo is more straightforward, so most of the course is mainly on driving theory. Although it is not without helpful videos, games, and simulations.

One other thing. DriverEdToGo has an audio narration feature, which is great if you don’t like reading a lot in one sitting.

Add Ons

Aceable has everything you need in one package, promising no add ons that you have to buy separately.

So with Aceable, you’re getting everything you need to pass in one comprehensive package, which is a BIG plus.

DriverEdToGo has a fair bit of add ons you’ll have to buy to get the full experience. Features such as DMV questions and lecture audio recordings have to be bought separately. If you don’t need those add ons, then you can just go for their affordable packages, which have everything you need.

Convenience

One of the most important factors in deciding your online driving school is convenience.

Handling your studies along with high school, work, or home life can become overwhelming at times.

Thankfully, both these schools offer dedicated mobile apps for both IOS and Android.

Aceable provides an on-the-go learning experience with a 4.9/5 rating on the App Store and a 4.7 on the Google Play Store. They’ve optimized their apps to give you a trouble-free learning experience.

You can expect a load of customized features for the Aceable app alone. All of these app-based features will help improve learning.

DriverEdToGo, on the other hand, has a great app on the IOS with a 4.7-star rating but falls short when it comes to Android, with a below-average 2.4/5.

The app itself is pretty much what you’d get on a laptop, just optimized for mobile use. So you’ll be able to take it along with you everywhere you go.

Again, it all boils down to your needs and preferences.

If you want an app with unique and awesome features, go Aceable. But if you just want to make sure you can access the course anywhere, DriverEdToGo’s app is a good choice.

Customer Support

Both schools offer phone and chat-based customer service.

Aceable gives users the ability to contact their customer service reps through Facebook, which almost everyone will find most convenient.

Also, the response time is very quick. You’ll get your answers right away.

Plus, Aceable has a YouTube page that has lots of videos answering the most frequently asked questions.

As for DriverEdToGo, they offer 24/7 customer support through phone or email. Sure, their support isn’t as widespread as Aceable’s, but they do provide satisfactory customer service.

Reviews

Don’t just take our word for it. It’s a good idea to see what their actual students think.

Here is a customer review for DriverEdToGo:

Here’s another one:

Most of DriverEdToGo’s negative reviews mention the long waiting time to receive the certificate of completion.

However, you need to know that their same-day delivery promise is an add-on that you must buy separately. Keep this in mind so you aren’t one of the frustrated students that kept on waiting and waiting for the certificate to arrive.

With Aceable, it’s hard to find a single bad review, with most customers appreciating their easy-to-do course and practical driving skill lessons.

Wrapping Up

Let’s wrap everything up.

Aceable’s course is more enjoyable as it gives users interactive content that won’t bore you to sleep.

This makes the course easier to do overall. Plus, it’ll help you remember the important points covered throughout the course.

The extra features they provide, such as excellent customer service, informational videos, and great mobile apps, make the whole learning process trouble-free and easy to do.

DriverEdToGo, on the other hand, focuses on a cheap, straightforward course.

Yes, it also offers great customer service, mobile apps, and videos. Maybe not as modern as Aceable does it, though.

One highlight to DriverEdToGo is that it has state-specific courses in all 50 states (just make sure to ask permission from your DMV if it isn’t approved in your state).

DriverEdToGo doesn’t have bells and whistles, but it does provide you everything you need to learn how to drive and pass your written test. And for some, that is more than enough.

Which Online Driving School Should You Pick?

If you're looking for a cheaper option that still gives you everything you need, then DriverEdToGo is a great choice that many drivers have used over the years.

And, it doesn’t matter what state you live in, you can find a driver’s ed course with DriverEdToGo. Again, if not state-approved, you have to ask permission.

But if you’re looking for a unique experience that is engaging and fun, while providing a real-life practical driving experience in a safe online environment, then Aceable is a great value-to-money option despite its higher price.

However, it has low state approval. This means that if you're not in their few approved states, you wouldn’t be able to take their course.

Alternative

Looking for an alternative? Check out DriversEd

DriversEd has the most approved course offerings in the online driver’s ed industry.

Like DriverEdToGo, their course is available in all states. As for their approved states, it is all the states that Aceable and DriverEdToGo approve. Additional approved states are Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Utah, and Wisconsin.

As for the course itself, DriversEd offers a fantastic feature-filled experience, as well as 24/7 customer support.

Conclusion

Both Aceable and DriverEdToGo are well-established and experienced providers of online driver’s ed courses and have taught lots of drivers over the years.

DriverEdToGo is a more affordable, more-state-option course that gives you what you need to learn the rules and regulations, as well as pass the written test. On the other hand, Aceable gives you a feature-rich driver’s ed to prepare you for your driving lessons and the written test.

The choice between these two options will largely depend on what you’re looking for.

So what are you waiting for?
