Worried that your state doesn’t have an online driver’s ed course?

Well, you won’t have that problem with DriverEdToGo and DmvEdu.

These two online driving schools service all 50 states of the United States for online driver’s ed.

What’s great is that both DriverEdToGo and DmvEdu customize their courses based on the requirements of your state.

However, take note that, though they have courses for every state, not every state is approved. If you’re not sure if it’s approved in your state or not, it’s best to first ask permission from your local DMV if the course will satisfy state requirements (keep in mind some states don’t authorize online driver’s ed).

Course Options

Since DriverEdToGo focuses on driver’s ed, that is the only course they offer.

The good thing about that is they are able to provide a lot of materials and resources to supplement your driver’s ed course. They also have practice tests for an additional fee.

Meanwhile, most online driving schools have more than one course offered. One example is DmvEdu, which offers two main courses - driver’s ed and traffic school.

These options are great as you can trust DmvEdu to be there for you through your whole journey as a responsible driver.

User Experience

Both DriverEdToGo and DmvEdu are 100% online. But which one is a lot easier to use?

Based on the design and interface of DriverEdToGo, I have to say that this wins in user-friendliness.

Their site and mobile app are very simple yet colorful at the same time. This helps in making the whole driving course feel less boring. And since most teens are attracted to colorful designs, this is a great plus.

Moreover, you can take the course on any device, and you can sync them all, too. So if you plan to continue on your phone, you don’t have to look for the last chapter you were on.

On the other hand, students appreciate that DmvEdu has removed the timers in some of its courses since this removes the pressure of finishing them right away.

If there is a timer, it’s just to make sure that you don’t go for less than the time your state requires you to learn the course.

Other than that, there’s a lot they can improve on in terms of making their interface more intuitive.

Features

Even if DriverEdToGo and DmvEdu both have similarities, they are very different when it comes to the features they offer alongside the actual driver’s ed.

DriverEdToGo has a lot of animations, interactive videos, and photos.

Any teenager would find the course very fun and engaging!

And did I mention that they have games, too?

I doubt that you’ll ever get bored taking your online driver’s ed with them.

Moreover, DriverEdToGo has a lot of add-ons that you can get for an additional price. These add-ons can be practice tests, a Driver Ed To Go DVD, and study guides (for some states).

So it’s a full suite of helpful course materials.

Meanwhile, DmvEdu is known for its simple and straightforward chapters. All the chapters and subchapters are found in a course outline pane as a guide.

As for the content, they have small blocks of text and several videos per chapter. For the most part, you’ll be watching videos that are recordings of actual in-person driver’s ed classes.

While students admire the effort of having videos instead of just text and audio, they say it would be a lot better to change these videos to a more “current” version. It would also help to have interactive content.

Reviews

Everybody loves reading reviews, especially since they give a more realistic view of the driver’s ed.

Here are a few reviews previous DriverEdToGo students say about the course:

“The most reliable and easy way to get your drivers ed. Super quick with great information:) Highly recommend it!”

And here’s a parent who’s definitely recommending DriverEdToGo:

“My son found it easy to use and get through at a decent rate of time unlike another company we tried first. Fast and efficient mailing out certificates. We would use it again.

DmvEdu has its own reviews, too:

“DmvEdu was very helpful to me because it allowed me to not only learn at my own pace but to fit my busy schedule during the weeks. Learning from DmvEdu was much easier and faster than I thought.”

Here’s another one:

“Incredibly informative and masterfully organized, the DmvEdu online drivers ed course far exceeded my expectations. The course answered any and all questions that I had, and I now feel absolutely ready to take on the immense responsibility of driving. I have recommended it to all of my non-driving friends because it is all of the essential information needed for driving, while in the convenience of your own home.”

Alternatives

If you are wondering if there are other online driving schools worth trying, here are schools that I recommend.

Aceable is probably one of the best online driver’s ed in the country. While they only service 9 states (CA, FL, GA, IL, NV, OH, OK, PA, and TX), they are still one of the most preferred schools to enroll in.

This is mainly because their course content is very simple yet engaging. You wouldn’t have any trouble understanding the concepts.

Another one is MyImprov

What students love about this online driver’s ed is that they’re affordable and funny. Yes, I mean very funny.

That’s because they employed the Improv Comedy Club to help craft their courses. So if you’re looking for some laughs, this is a great choice.

Verdict

After comparing the two online driver’s ed courses, I feel that DriverEdToGo is a more user-friendly and engaging course that is ideal for teenagers. It also has a lot of course materials to help you with your exams.

However, some of you will prefer DmvEdu’s simple and straightforward chapters, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Either way, both schools offer high-quality online driver’s education, so it’s just really a matter of which one is best suited to your learning style.

So take your pick and best of luck!
